Strummin' with Daddy

We figured that with two musically inclined parents, Olivia had a pretty good chance of being musical herself. She's proven this to be true. She has a Fisher Price "house" (thanks to Tutu and TutuKane) with a radio built in. She works that radio out! She pushes the button to start the music, then she pulls up to stand and "rocks-out" to the music. As soon the music ends, she reaches down and hits it again. She can go for... minutes! It's absolutely hilarious.
A few weeks ago, Scott and Olivia sat in on my hula class. I looked over and she was clapping along with the ipu. How cool is that!
In these photos, she's alternatively dancing and trying to help Daddy strum the uke.

Father's Day at Mount Vernon

Mommy and I took Daddy to Mount Vernon for Father's Day. We saw George Washington's house. We went to the farm and we went down to the water - it smelled kind of bad, but the breeze was very nice. They have some really big trees at Mount Vernon. Daddy sat on one. Look how big! I bet that tree was really really old.

Summertime Fun!

Hurray! Swings!

Our Trip to the State Park

On the first sunny, warm day of the season, we took a trip to the park. It was a lovely day, and luckily we got an early start and beat the crowds.

What a view!

Greetings from Olivia

Hello Everyone!
At long last, here are some photos of my escapades over the last few months.

Here's the news... I have 2 teeth! Daddy keeps looking for my other tooth friends, but they haven't come out to play yet.

I can stand up now- though it helps to have a table or a sofa or Grandma's legs to hold on to. I'm not too interested in walking just yet- I can move really fast on all fours. I'm quick.

I really like bath time. I'm a big girl now, so I take my bath in the big girl tub - not in the kitchen anymore. That's for babies. I like to pour the water out of the cup. It makes a nice sound.

I don't like to have my diaper changed. The whole process just isn't much fun. I'm a free-spirit you know. I don't like my movements restricted - even if the payoff is a clean, dry, happy bottom.

I like to eat in my highchair. I can feed myself now. I like pears and macaroni and cheese a lot. I also like Baby Mum Mum. I can ask for it by name!

I really like to go outside in the sunshine. This weekend we went to the park and I saw lots of flowers and bumbley bees and cows. They weren't like the cows I learned about in my book. These cows had horns.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Time for a Road Trip!

Like my shades?

I'm almost walking... but these tights are getting in my way.

Celery

Hi, it's Olivia.
This is a picture of me chewing on a piece of celery. It's good. Feels nice on my gums. I don't have any teeth yet. I think if I keep chewing on celery, they might show up soon.

This picture was taken on Super Bowl Sunday. Grandaddy made a big pot of something that smelled good. I didn't get to eat any of it, but everybody went back for seconds. Next time he makes it, I'm going to see if I can get some.

A Note from Olivia

I've been keeping Mommy and Daddy really busy. I had a cold that kept us all up late this weekend. But, I'm feeling better now. I went to the doctor and they said that it was just a cold. Also, they said that I weigh 18lbs 3oz now. I'm 28 inches long. My hair keeps growing too. The nurse said that it might be "under control" in a few years. I'm not sure what that means.

We've been having some fun too. Last weekend we went to see Grandma and Grandpa's new house. It doesn't have carpets to crawl on yet, but this time it had walls and cabinets in the kitchen where Grandma can make my lunch. I saw my sleep-over room too. It's right next to Grandma and Grandpa's room. It has 2 big windows and you can see the mountains. I hope they move in soon.

Mommy says she's going to put up some new photos of me real soon. I'll remind her.

Have a happy day! Ahh-Da!!

Almost crawling...

Everybody Loves Playtime!!

Daddy's first solids.

Notice the advanced technique....
spoon in one hand, Olivia's free hand in the other.
Since she never lets go of the hand that feeds her...
it works out quite well. :)

Thanksgiving Greetings!

"mmm... pilgrim bear. i wonder what he tastes like?"

A brief visit from 'Uncle' Dan

Dan stopped in for a quick visit during his
whirlwind tour of the East Coast. He was
with us just long enough to hold "Baby O"
until she drifted off to sleep - he headed to the
airport to catch an early AM flight back home to
Colorado before daybreak. Nice seeing you Dan-
even for just a little while!

On the Move!

Olivia never seems to sit still in her waking hours these days. She has mastered the art of rolling from front to back and back to front... over and over again. She travels at a pretty good clip... fast enough that we're planning "Operation Babyproofing" for this coming weekend.

When she's not rolling around on the floor, she's trying desperately to get up onto her feet. Sitting is no fun anymore - Olivia wants to stand up and run!
